You've found Cheap Vacations and Travel Ideas
Let me begin by saying that I have nothing whatsoever against
travel agents and the agencies that they represent. To the contrary,
I have often been directed towards excellent vacation
package discounts and promotions that I might possibly have
missed if it had not been for the advice offered by these professionals.
My favorite agents are very successful in their field and popular
with travelers for the very reason that they perform their job
in the tourist industry to perfection which results in repeat
business booking one trip after another for satisfied customers.
However, I am of the mind that individuals working on commission or
that represent companies might have biased opinions when advising
would be tourists on the best places to visit and where to spend
their vacation dollars. Put yourself in the shoes of the travel
agent and imagine this all too real scenario.
If a person drops by the travel agency where you work asking
for brochures, vacation
ideas and tips on appropriate locations where a father might
take the wife and kids for a relaxing beach
vacation what advice would you give him? Would you be more
inclined to direct this individual to travel a thousand miles
to a family destination that would put a lot of commission money
in your pocket or would you tell him about an excellent location
a few hours away from his own back yard that offered virtually
the same entertainment and attractions that would pay you very
little in commission?
There are many travel agents with scruples that would offer budget
friendly advice simply to help out and do the right thing, but
unfortunately when money gets tight and competition heats up the rule
seems to be each man for himself. For this reason, I saw the need for
a travel site that offers free vacation tips and advice to help people
with a limited means get the most for their money.
I encourage visitors to share their travel experiences, pictures and
recommendations with others in the spirit of traveler helping
traveler and therefore raising the standards of the tourism industry.
